In manuscript, we can read this phrase "Afficitur plagis qui non vult discere gratis"
(A Boy does not want to learn willingly is forced to be taught with blows...).

When Ockham, Thomas Aquinas and Duns Scotus... were young boys, did they want to learn willingly philosophy, theology and grammar?
