High-protein diet linked to low blood pressure

A juicy steak can help keep readings down, study claims.


Research has revealed that people with a high-protein diet have a lower risk of high blood pressure than those who eat less.

Steak, pork, and cheese are all high in protein but not necessarily linked to a healthy diet.

However, US experts found people who consumed about 102g of protein a day had a 40 percent less chance of developing high blood pressure than those who consumed half this amount.

The scientist's study, published in the American Journal of Hypertension, tracked the blood pressure of 1,361 healthy people for 11.3 years.
