GOTTSCHALK - "Grand Triumphal Fantasy on the Brazilian National Anthem"

During the Empire of Brazil (1822 - 1889), the American composer and pianist Louis Moreau Gottschalk (1829 - 1869), then residing in Rio de Janeiro, composed two nationalistic works of classical music based on the Brazilian National Anthem that achieved great popularity during the imperial period: the Brazilian Solemn March and the Grand Triumphal Fantasy on the Brazilian National Anthem ("Grande Fantasia Triunfal sobre o Hino Nacional Brasileiro"), dedicated to The Princess Imperial Isabel, Countess d'Eu.
